Williams, Solomon set national record, win Jos Cross Country titles

Plateau state runners,  Kefas  Williams and Blessing Sshambor  Solomon, have emerged the winners of the first ever  Cross Country competition in Nigeria,  the Jos Cross Country, sponsored by Nilayo  Sports Management Limited.  Kefas, won the men's race at 31minutes 38:38seconds. He got a cash prize of N300,000. In second place was Stephen Joshua, who crossed the line at 31minutes 28: 30 seconds. He got N200,000 for efforts. While in third place was Emmanuel Gyang who finished at 32minutes 01:27seconds. He got N100,000. The men's race was so competitive such that the finishers from first place to 6th position were all Nigerian elite athletes.  The likes of pre-event favourites; Paul James Pam (32:39:08), Solomon Nyango (33:19:69), James Gyang Gwon ( 33:25:93), Simon Markus (33:26:10), Nyango Gyang (33:31:49) and Iliya Pam 33:39:69 all ran 33 minutes.  Iliya Pam, earlier rated to win the championship said he  was hindered by an injury sustained at the Access Bank Lagos City Marat

Pam Tipped To Equal National Record, As Winners Share N2m At Jos Cross Country

The winner of the 10km race at the Gold-Label 8th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon and the reigning national champion in the 5000m and 10,000m races at the 2022 National Sports Festival, Paul James Pam, has been tipped to equal the Nigerian record in the Cross Country race set at the National Stadium, Lagos on 19th June 1993 at a time of 14minutes 15seconds, by Timmon Gumel of Plateau state. Gumel, who still holds the record set at the National Stadium,  Lagos in 1993, said, despite the Jos Cross Country competition field having a very competitive field with Ilya Pam and Gyang Boyi among other top Nigerian elite marathon elite runners, the man to watch is Paul James Pam. Jos Cross Country Race; Pam's Family Plans To Make History

   One of Nigeria's celebrated athletics road running family, the Pam,  Ilya, Deborah and Paul James, are poised to make history as the first elite road running family from Plateau State to clear the titles at stake at the first ever Jos Cross Country race, as the competition for men and women runners in Nigeria, the first in 40 years in the history of athletics hold at the Jos metropolis, Plateau State. The sibblings have their eyes on the podium at the finish point of the race this Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Rhino Golf Course, Jos, Plateau State. It's not the first time the Pam family members, especially Iliya and Deborah,  who are of the same parents achieve this rare feat. Revelation Cup: Super Falcons in Leon, Mexico ; Ready To Up World Cup Preparations.

Nine-time African champions Nigeria arrived in Leon, State of Guanajuato, Mexico on Monday ahead of the Four-Nation Women’s Revelation Cup Tournament taking place 15th 21st February in that city. Hosts Mexico, Nigeria, Costa Rica and Colombia are the participating teams at the tournament, which has the objective of preparing the contestants for the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand this summer. The management of Nigeria's premium Marathon races organisers, Nilayo Sports Management,  led by its Managing Director, Chief Bukola Olopade, will on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 2pm sign a multiple multi-billion naira contract deals that would see the birth of the Abuja City International Marathon. Hayla Worku leads worldclass runners to Gold-Label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

Ethiopia's Hayla Bazu Worku, will be leading the team of foreign worldclass runners that will compete at the Gold-Label 8th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday,  February 4th. Worku, is one of the fastest full marathon runners in the world,  having ran six World class marathons in less than 2hours 9 minutes. The 2014 Houston Marathon winner, ran his fastest time of 2:05:25 when he finished third place at the Berlin Marathon in 2010. He ran a time of 2:06:16 when he finished second place at the Paris Marathon in 2009, ran 2:06:47 when he placed 6th at the Zurich Marathon in 2020. Ran 2:07:09 at the Dubai Standard Chartered Marathon in 2015 where he placed 6th. In 2014 ran 2:07:32 at the Houston Marathon where he was champion in 2014. And 2:08:48 at the Praha Marathon in 2017 where he finished second place.
