Bayelsa Queens Forward, Maryann Ezeanagu is optimistic that her team will do well, when they start their CAF Women Champions League campaign on Monday evening. The former Delta Queens Forward donned the shirt of Rivers Angels at the maiden edition of the CAF Women Champions League, last year and had a great outing, but her team couldn't go past the first round. "We are positive about the game. We have been working hard, preparing for dis competition and as always, our first game is very important.' She noted.  "We have to start on a good note. Bayelsa Queens head coach, Domo Okara, says the team is ready to claim the title at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League. The Prosperity Girls will be competing in the competition for the first after emerging winners at the WAFU B Championship early this year. Rivers Angels participated in the inaugural edition of the competition last year but the Port Harcourt club failed to make it beyond the group stage. Okara, who was recently confirmed as the head coach of the side, is aiming to continue his fairytale run in the dugout. “I feel delighted to be competing with the best clubs in Africa, we are going to give our best and learn as well,” He said.  “It means a lot for us honestly, we were delighted to compete in a tournament of that magnitude, and as WAFU B winners as well, it was a great feeling. Bayelsa Queens Defender Rihanat Kasali has said she is looking forward to her team beginning the 2022 CAF Women Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns with a victory.  The Nigeria Women Football League Champions will face their South African Counterparts on Monday Evening  at the Grand Stade De Marakech.  “I think the team is ready, physically and emotionally. Everyone in the team knows how good Mamelodi Sundowns are, and that's the more reason, we have to be stable all through the game.  "This is our first time in this competition, but we know where we are coming from and what we are expected to achieve as a team. We have a great squad and we are ready to move on with the challenges ahead, but first, a victory against Mamelodi is non negotiable.' She concluded.  A win over the Brazilians would go a long way to ensuring the Prosperity Ladies qualify for the next round.

 Nigeria U-17 Women's National Team, Flamingos Head Coach Bankole Olowookeere has expressed his appreciation to Nigerians, for standing and believing in them, all through the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India.  The Flamingos on Sunday, finished in third position, after beating the Die Nationalef of  Germany 3-2 via penalties, after the game ended 3-3 in regulation time.  The Nigerian U17 team, made history, by reaching the Semi-Final of the U17 Women's World Cup for the first time. The team also went further to pick a precious bronze medal in the tournament.  It was an impressive outing for the young Nigerians as they showed class from their first game against the German team, and went on to beat New Zealand and Chile in the two other group matches.  Further on, the team defeated the United State U17 Women team in the Quarter Finals, via penalty, after playing a goaless draw in fulltime. The Chairman of Nigeria Park Volleyball Commission, Major General Taritimiye Gagariga has donated balls to teams participating at this year's National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues in Kaduna. Maj Gen Gagariga made the donation after the match between Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers and Yelwa VC at the indoor sports hall of Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Tuesday. He expressed happiness over the high rate of young players participating at the National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues. Gagariga said, "The balls donated today are to encourage all the teams in the league. I have been monitoring the league and I observed that most of the players are relatively unknown while few of them have exposure at National Championship. "I will continue to lay emphasis on the grassroots because their are so many young players that are yet to be unveiled. Organisers Of Ogun Women Run Pay Prize Monies To Winners

The organisers of the Ogun Women Run 2022, Brussel Sports Management Limited, has paid the total prize monies to all the winners at the 5km Run held at the Ogun State capital, Abeokuta. The eventual champion of the Women Run, Olude Kehinde, got a cash prize of N500,000 for her efforts. While Yemisi Ephraim, who placed second, got a cash prize of N300,000, while Adekun Olayemi Mercy got a cash prize of N200,000 for placing third. The Managing Director of Brussel Sports Management Limited, Mr. Oluseyi Johnson, stated on Tuesday in Lagos, that, aside from the three major cash prizes, all the other consolation prizes had been paid to all their winners. He stressed that, the payments of all the cash prizes opened the road for the beginning of a full planning process ahead of the second edition of the Ogun Women Run which has been scheduled to hold on June 3rd 2023. Madiba FC has been crowned champions of the 2021/22 Nationwide League One season after they pipped Malantarki Care FC by a lone goal in the Super 8 final in Lagos. The Oshodi-based team who ended the regular season unbeaten, lived up to the hype as they went on without losing a game in the champion of champions play-off that was held at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere-Lagos. An epic final was as they took the game to FCT-based Malantarki Care and showed their superiority. Their attacking play was rewarded with a goal in the 28th minute after Rabiu Nurudeen beat the offside flag to chip the ball beyond the reach of Edward Ameh in goal for Malantarki Care. The Nationwide League One (NLO) Champion of Champions trophy is up for grabs on Saturday as Madiba FC of Lagos and Mailantarki Care of the FCT are through to the final fixed for the Legacy Pitch, after going top of their groups.  After five days of beautiful football displays and some fantastic goals scored by the eight teams, it's now down to Madiba FC, who were unbeaten en route to the play-off final with 7 points, and Mailantarki Care who edged out FC Ebedei on a plus three goal difference, despite both teams garnering 6 points each after three group matches. The group phase of the 2022 NLO play-off lived up to the billing as both Madiba and Mailantarki Care needed their last group games to secure their qualification to the epic final. Madiba who had secured 6points going into their final game only needed to avoid defeat against Aspire FC. Impressive Nigerian Defender Maureen Umeugochukwu was at her usual best in US St. Malo's 2-1 Victory over La Roche in The French Championnat National 2 on Sunday Afternoon.  The lanky and superlative Defender played the entire duration at the heart of the St. Malo's defense and ensured her team gained the required balance to take all three points.  French International, MaryLine Fixot gave the Les Diables Noirs the lead in the 40th minute, before doubling the lead late in the 89th minute. Umeugochukwu performance for Union Sportive Saint Malo since joining two months ago continues to gather steam with the Nigerian youngster, now one of the players the fans look out for, on every Matchday.  The Saint-Malo based side have so far won two out of the four games played so far this season.
