Beyond Limits has claimed its first Optima Energy Gold Cup after three attempts with a victory over Ijebu United, to claim the bragging rights of the southwest derby final on Saturday at the Remo Stars International Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State. The Young Sky Blue Stars started brightly and were reeled into the game by the quick pace, dazzling moves and delightful passing of the trio of Onyebuchi Obasi, Farouq Ogundare and Olude Muyideen; which were much to bear for Ijebu United backline, as they dictated the tempo at which they wanted the game to be played.  Super sub and tournament top scorer,  Biliaminu Abdullahi sent fans at the stadium to a frenzy as he struck the decisive blow from 20yards in the 41st minute, which deflected off an Ijebu United defender for the first goal just before half time.  It was Biliaminu's second goal against Ijebu United after his first in the last Group A game and his fifth in the 11th edition of the Optima Energy Gold Cup pre-season tournament. Debutants Ijebu United claimed the bragging rights against a 10-man Shooting Stars, whom they beat 4-3 on spot kicks to set up interesting clash with Beyond Limits in the final of the Optima Energy Gold Cup.  The Remo Stars International Stadium in Ikenne will host the grand finale of the 11th edition of the pre-season tournament on Saturday at 3pm. It was a game of both halves for Shooting Stars and Ijebu United who replaced defending champions Remo Stars who pulled out, owing to this weekend's CAF Champions League preliminaries. Nigerian Forward Frank Worgu Nets Twice In CP Monterhermoso 6-0 Victory Over UD Aceituna.

After a superlative performance on his debut for Spanish Side CP Monterhermoso, Nigerian Forward, Frank Worgu netted twice and made a assist as his team whitewashed UD Aceituna on Monday.  Worgu is enjoying a remarkable run since he joined the Spanish Club from Nigerian side, Chykap International Football Club and has noted that he would keep doing his best for his team.  "I am excited about this, because it means so much to me. I will keep putting in my best for the team, anytime I am called upon.  "CP Monterhermoso is a very ambitious team and their ambitions matches with mine. So it makes it more appealing to want to always do well for the team."     Beyond Limits became the first team to record three wins out of three matches in the group phase of the Optima Energy Gold Cup, as Biliaminu Abdullahi's sensational effort from 19 yards nailed Ijebu United in a thriller at the Remo Stars International Stadium in Ikenne. It was a top of the table clash between two Ogun State football teams, and it lived up to the hype in the final game of the group. But it was Beyond Limits that claimed the bragging rights, to go top on the log of their group with 9points while Ijebu United settled for second with 6points from two wins, as former champions Sunshine Stars got their first win beating Hammola FC by a lone goal to finish third and fourth respectively. After the completion of Matchday 2 fixtures in Group A on Sunday, Beyond Limits and Ijebu United made it two wins out of two, and garnered 6points each, but the former leads the log with a better goals difference of plus 7 goals, after they put six goals past Hammola FC on Matchday 1 while the latter has plus 4 goals. Ijebu United sealed a ticket to the knockout stage after putting two goals past bottom place Hammola FC, to record their second win of the tourney. Debutant Ijebu United got their campaign in the Optima Energy Gold Cup on a flourishing start with an upset, as they whipped Sunshine Stars 4-2 in the opening fixture of the 11th edition of the pre-season tourney at the Remo Stars International Stadium on Friday. It was a game of two halves for Ijebu United; with two penalties for both teams, as Ifeanyi Ihemekweele made a bold statement scoring a hat-thrick for the Nigerian National League club.  Former champion had the chance to take the lead in the 10th minute with Olalusi Micheal attempt on goal saved by Ijebu United goalkeeper. Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Thursday in Osogbo, received a member of the victorious D'Tigress Squad to the recently concluded 2023 FIBA Afrobasketball Championship in Kigali, Adenike Olawuyi.  Olawuyi, who is an Osogbo born Basketball player, plys her trade for Hungarian Basketball team, Ratgeber and played a pivotal role in the Nigeria Women's Basketball team success as they won their fourth straight FIBA Afrobasketball Championship.
