FIFA Women Football Convention: Aisha Falode Advances Promoting Diverse Leadership In Football.


Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board Member and Head of Women's Football Committee, Aisha Falode took part in the 2023 edition of the FIFA Women's Football Convention, which took place at the International Convention Centre, Sydney on Saturday


The former CAF Media Committee Member led a panel of discussion on the news to empower women to lead, and the positive results of promoting diverse leadership in Football. 

Aisha Falode was joined in discussion by Portland Thorns FC General Manager and former Canadian Women National team Goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, Former Japanese National team Coach Tsuneyasu Miyamoto and Victor Diaz of Uruguay. The panel of discussion, was moderated by Optus Sport Anchor and Former Matilda Defender Amy Duggan.

Speaking about the topic of discussion, Falode emphasized her belief in promoting diverse leadership in Football, thereby calling on more women to show interest in not just the round leather game, but also taking important leadership roles, that would be in the interest and growth of Football. 


She further stressed on the positive effects of encouraging more women in Football Leadership and how FIFA has taken measures to preserve and protect the women's game, with a huge impact being yielded at this year's ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.


FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura signed off the convention and called on global football’s leaders and stakeholders to invest in women’s football following on from Australia & New Zealand 2023. She also thanked the Australian Government after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promised to invest AUD 200 million to develop women’s football in the country. The Secretary General received a rousing standing ovation following her lengthy contribution and involvement in the lead-up to the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
