Oyo Governor's Cup 2024| Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomosho, Obalufon Grammar School Gets Victory In Zonal Elimination

The Zonal Elimination of the 2024 Oyo Governor's Cup kicked off on Tuesday in some centres.  Anglican Grammar School Ogbomosho defeated Ahoro-dada Community Secondary School, by five goals to one to scale through to the next round of the Zonal Elimination.  In Oke Ogun, Obalufon Grammar School won comfortably against Ansar-Udeen Grammar School, Ago Are. The game ended 4-1. Awe High School beat Anglican Methodist Secondary School 3-2 via penalties, after the game ended goalless in regulation time.  Also in Oyo, Ladigbolu Grammar School were 1-0 better of Isale Oyo Community Secondary School.  More matches will be played on Wednesday across Oyo. At the Wesley College, Elekuro, CHS Otun Agba will face Owode CHS, Bodegbo in the first game of the day, while Government College Ibadan, will be bye.  At the Urban Day Secondary School, Bishop Phillip Academy will square up with Methodist High School, by 9.am, while T. After two weeks of exciting and highly competitive football, the preliminary Qualifiers of the Oyo State Governor's Cup 2024 has ended.  No fewer than 33 Schools across the state, made it to the next round (Zonal Elimination) of the competition, which will restart on Tuesday, May 28th, to Friday 31st in over five centres.   Speaking, Yomi Elijah, CEO of Schools' Sports Foundation, Organisers of the Oyo State Governor's Cup, noted that over 200 hundred schools from the thirty three Local Government area of Oyo State, participated in the Preliminary Qualifiers.  The UK trained Football Coach reiterated his team's commitment to hosting a near perfect competition that would produce a worthy winner at the end of the day.  "Over 200 Schools across the nooks and crannies of Oyo start participated in the Preliminary Qualifiers for places in the main area of the event, which starts on Tuesday.  "We had an hitch free preliminary Qualifiers and kudos must go to everyone

The Oyo State Governors Cup Preliminary Qualifiers continued across the state on Monday, with some teams confirming their group stage status.  It would be recalled that some zones have already ended their preliminaries, while some are still in the final round. Zumuratual Hujaj, Bishop Phillips Academy, Bashorun High School and Oyo Community Secondary School are part of the early qualifiers.  In the Kajola Zone, Okeho Iganna Grammar School defeated Community Grammar School, Ilua 2-0 on Monday, to get the ticket from the zone.. In Afijio Zone, Ilora Grammar School will tackle Awe High School in the Final, while Ladigbolu Grammar School and Fashola High School will play in the Oyo West Zone Qualifiers.  In Saki Zone, Baptist Senior High School and ADS Comprehensive High School will confront each other in the final game of the zone.  The Preliminary Qualifiers of the Competition is expected to end on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024 across all Zones. Adepoju Fathia, a student of Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, Osun State has been selected to represent Nigeria in the Secondary Schools Female Football Competition in China. Established in 2021, the Lanreleke Sports Academy is a co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School.  Fathia, a 15-year-old and exciting football prodigy was selected by the Nigeria School Sports Federation NSSF) for the 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Cup for girls, which will hold in Dalian from May 16 to 27. Bishop Phillips Academy, Zumuratual Hujaj School and Isale Oyo Community High School and Bashorun High School are among the first teams to progress to the next round of the Preliminary qualifiers of the Oyo State Governors Cup'.  The quartet will join 29 other qualified schools in the main group-stage draw after progressing from the Ibadan North West, Ona Ara, Ibadan North East and Atiba zones respectively.  In the final of the Ibadan North East Zone, played at the Loyola College, Ibadan, Bashorun High School defeated Renascent High School 4-2 via penalties, after they both played out a 2-2 draw during normal time.  Zumuratual Hujaj School also beat their counterpart Bioku Alaadun Community Secondary School 5-4 via penalties in the final of the Ona Ara Zone. Zumuratual Hujaj School came back from the game, to force the game into penalties.  Sectators, were treated to the best of Football, as Secondary Schools across Oyo State, continue to impress in the ongoing Preliminary Qualifiers of the Oyo State Governor's Cup, proudly Sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns.  Some of the matches played on Wednesday, which is the third day of the Preliminary Qualifiers, saw Mount Olivet Secondary School defeating Community High School Agbowo, Immanuel Grammar School also beating Immanuel College 2-0.  Other matches played at the Ibadan North Preliminary Qualifiers, had Abadina College crushing Methodist Grammar School 3-1.  In Atiba Zone, Isale Oyo Commercial Grammar School won Oranyan Grammar School by 1-0, while Community Secondary School Oke Olola, defeated Isale Oyo Commercial School.  In another Centre, Oba Abass High School beat Army Barracks Grammar School, while Ansar-Udeen High School defeated Jericho High School 1-0.  Later today in day 4, Isale Oyo Community Secondary School will face Isale Oyo Commercial High School
