Nigeria National U-17 Women's team, Flamingos Head Coach, Bankole Olowookere on Friday, 26th of July 2024 laid his mother to rest at Aaye, Orin-Odo in Ikole Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Late Princess Deborah Olugbolaro Olowookere died in May, after a brief illness at the age of 87 and was given a well deserved farewell by her Children and loved ones.
With eminent individuals, friends and well-wishers from the Football World in attendance, Bankole Olowookere and his siblings ensured that the matriarch's obsequies remains a much talked-about event for a long time to come.
The three-day funeral ceremonies, kick-started with a Christian Wake-keep on Wednesday with loved ones producing spirited eulogies and celebration of 'Mama Onisu' as she was fondly called during her time.
A day after, a novelty match, organised by the Coaches Association of Ekiti State, was played at at the Ikole Ekiti Football Pitch, where Bankole Olowookere was rewarded with a special award for his contributions to the development of grassroot football in Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.
On Friday, a well attended funeral service was conducted at the Our Saviour African Church, Orin Odo, Ikole Ekiti, where the minister in Charge, extolled the qualities of Maama Deborah Olugbolaro Olowookere, encouraging as many that were in attendance to borrow a leaf from her lifestyle.
The funeral programme climaxed with a reception at the prestigious D'Vand Event Centre, Ikole Ekiti, where guests were treated to a splendid treatment, including the best of Continental and local dishes as well as the best of beverages were served.
