Pinnick is one of favorites out of  the 10 men seeking the five tickets on offer. Speaking on SuperSport’s African Soccerprogramme in Johannesburg, South Africa yesterday evening, monitored by ThisDay's Duro Ikhazuagbe, the two-term  former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said his quest for a second term was for him to consolidate on  the great jobs the Gianni Infantino led FIFA Council has started. “Trust me, my quest for a second term in the FIFA Council is not a do or die affair. I have my businesses and not one moment idle. I just want to  ensure that those bridges built in the first term: those contacts made are well utilized for the...

Above the ball, three yellow stars highlight the club’s ambitions, goals, and commitment to excellence. Of the six tickets, one is reserved for women’s representatives from the continent on the 37-member FIFA Council. It is presently occupied by Isha Johansen of Sierra Leone who has been challenged by the duo of Lydia Nsekera of Burundi and Kanizat Ibrahim  of the Comoros Island. Pinnick will be seeking re-election for another four-year term on the FIFA Council where he has become a major voice from the continent, ThisDay reports.  Presently representing Africa as one of the six Vice Presidents on the FIFA Council is Patrice Motsepe, the  South African billionaire businessman who is CAF President. Pinnick's Influence Extends Beyond Regional Endorsements In FIFA Council Bid.

Image
As the race for a coveted FIFA Council seat intensifies, Nigerian football administrator Amaju Pinnick has emerged as a formidable force, defying the odds despite the formal endorsements of Andrew Kamanga and Souleiman Hassan Waberi by the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) and the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA). While these regional blocs have officially thrown their weight behind Kamanga and Waberi, the election dynamics suggest that Pinnick’s influence and extensive alliances across Africa are shaping the contest in his favor. Unlike a traditional bloc vote, where endorsements dictate outcomes, individual football associations retain the autonomy to vote based on their interests—a factor that has significantly bolstered Pinnick’s standing. Highly respected within global football circles, Pinnick’s track record in CAF and FIFA governance, his strategic diplomatic engagements, and his visionary approach to football administrat...
