NWFL Premiership Champions Bayelsa Queens Disassociate from League Boycott
The Management of Bayelsa Queens FC has Disassociated itself from the report going round of a purported boycott of the new season of the Nigeria Women Football League scheduled to kick off on September 14.
This was contained in a statement credited to Chairman Bayelsa Queens Pastor Robin Apreala Angonimi that the club would not want to meddle in affairs that would derail it's target of giving Nigeria a worthy representation at the CAF WAFU-B Championship in Cote D'Ivoire and picking the sole ticket for the African Champions League in Morocco.
The statement further outlined that as a State sponsored team, the decision to boycott or not the upcoming NWFL season does not lie on one man. But the Bayelsa State Government must be briefed through the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and also office of the Deputy Governor who supervises Sports in the State.
Pastor Apreala stated that Bayelsa Queens FC is a Government owned Club and for a sensitive matter of this magnitude, one or few persons can not sit and decide for the rest. If the league will be played today,we are ready. He said that Issues will definitely arise and believes in the principle of dialogue and negotiation as two wrongs can not make a right.
The Amassoma Born Sorts administrator however call on all relevant stakeholders of the Women Football in Nigeria to sheath their sword and work with the Aisha Falode led Board to move the League forward.
Bayelsa Queens FC will continue it's preparations for the WAFU-B Championship and defence of the AITEO Cup with a round of 32 match against Kada Queens of Kaduna in Makurdi.
