Lord Mark FC wins 2nd Victor Ikpeba Football Challenge Warri 2022
Lord Mark Football Club of Warri has emerged champions of the 2nd Victor Ikpeba Football Challenge Warri 2020, after defeating Justice Fc of Warri 2-0 in the grand finale played at the Army Day Secondary School, Effurum, Warri.
Lord Mark FC victory came from the two goals scored by Jeffery Okiri and Vwegba Okiki.
Their goals made the difference, as Justice Fc could not find the net of their opponents.
Lord Mark Fc went home with the Champions prize money of N150,000, a gold trophy and gold medals.
For placing second place, Justice Fc of Warri, cashed in the sum of N100,000, while the Third Place team, Sporting Fc of Warri defeated Champions Cathedral Football, to win the third position 3-1.
Sporting Fc winning goals were scored by Ajaru Kemutie who netted the first and the third goals.
While Sporting Fc second goal was scored by Goodluck Okere. Sporting Fc went home with a cash prize of N70,000.
The fourth place team, Champions Cathedral Fc, emerged the fourth team and they went home with a cash prize of N50,000 for their effort.
The tournament sponsors and the 1997 African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, said at the event's venue that, the standard if this year’s event was far higher than what it was last year.
"This time around, we had more teams participating. We had a total of 20 teams in the event, this automatically raised the bar as more teams struggled to be in contention playing more matches to remain in contention.
In the individual awards: Okiki Oruese of Lord Mark Fc was voted the Highest Goal Scorer with six goals. Vwegba Okiki of Sporting Fc was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Okere Goodluck of Fc Planner emerged the tournament's Best Midfielder, while Klinton Onosigho was voted the tournament's Best Defender.
