Rep Bamidele Salam Eulogises Otunba Isiaka Adeleke Legacies, Promises Bigger And Better Tournament.
The Initiator of the yearly Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Football Championship Rep Bamidele Salam have promised a better and bigger tournament in all ramifications next year.
The House of Representatives Member, representing the good people of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency made this promise on Sunday, after the final match of the 2023 edition, which was won by Egbedore United.
The Journalist cum Politician also eulogized the life and time of the late Senator and first Civilian Governor of Osun State, who bequeathed an inspirational legacy for the State during his time on earth.
"There is absolutely nothing that one does in remembering the services and legacies of the Late Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, that is too much," Salam said.
"For us, this is just the beginning, because we haven't even started, be sure truly the State owes him alot.
"He was the man who laid the foundation for the development of the state. Remembering him gives me joy and I think the Government should do more in the institutionalisation of his name.
"Hopefully, by next year, we should be able to increase the number of teams participating in this tournament, to give more opportunities to young footballers to showcase their talents and take it to the next level. We are also hopeful that more Corporate bodies will support is to discover more talents in the State. I want to thank everyone who made this year's tournament a great success." He concluded.
The third edition of the Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Championship was won by Egbedore United, who defeated Osun FA, 8-7 via penalties, after a goalless ninety minutes.
