Martha Tarhemba Makir Female Secondary School Football Championship| Notre Dame Secondary School Emerge Champions

Notre Dame Secondary School, Gboko has emerged Champions of the 2024 Martha Tarhemba Makir Female Secondary School Football Championship. 



The Competition was organized to promote  female football talents amongst Secondary School Students In Benue State and also to showcase exceptional skill and determination from all participating teams. 




The final match of the tournament featured a clash between Notre Dame Secondary School and Queen of the Rosary Secondary School. 



Notre Dame dominated possession throughout the game and applied relentless pressure on their opponents. Despite several near misses in the first half, Fatilen of Notre Dame secured the lone goal of the match. 



Ahemen of Notre Dame Secondary School was recognized as the Most Valuable Player for her outstanding contributions throughout the tournament.


While Fatilen, also from Notre Dame Secondary School, tied up with Priscilla of Queen Of The Rosary Secondary as they both claimed the title of Highest Goal Scorer, Fatilen joined Priscilla on the goals tally after scoring the crucial goal in the Finals.



 Liam Of Queen Of The Rosary Secondary School was awarded the Best Goal Keeper Award after showcasing exceptional goalkeeping skills for her team, through out the competition. 



Earlier in the day, Government Secondary School triumphed over National Evangelical Mission Secondary School in a closely contested match.


Martha Tarhemba made her name playing for the Super Falcons in the late 90s. She was part of the Super Falcons squad that won the 1998 African Women’s Championship (now Women’s Africa Cup of Nations) with Ismaila Mabo in charge.


She also featured in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia. She retired in the early 2000s, and  currently lives in the United States of America. Tarhemba  gives back to the society, with the Martha Terhamba Makir Female Secondary School Football Championship.
